Over the recent years Rossmere has been involved with a charity known as 'Good News Ministries. This is a Christian Charity that is involved with the 'great need' in India. The charity supports the lives of Widows and Children, who are desperately in need of care.  Rossmere provided money in Dec 2006 which was taken in the collection after our Christmas performances. The money was taken straight to India with Eric and Ann Reeve (Miss Reeve's parents) and blankets were bought for the children and some of the money went to the poorest families in the area, to buy rice for the family for one week. The appeal was 'Feed a family for a week for 50p'.

During the visit a 'child' was chosen for the children at Rossmere Primary School to sponser. We pay £15 a month and this provides our sponsored child with food, clothing and education. The Y4/5 children wrote to Vusha Rani as part of their literacy topic and we recieved a letter from Vusha Rani with a Christmas card this year.

Chanti the director of the charity visited England in 2007 and visited Rossmere to meet the children. The mail came and took a photo of this event.

Another visit to India was planned for February and another appeal was opened in school. The charity are in the process of building a new children's home and a home for widows. They need 100 000 bricks for this project. The appeal this time was 'buy a brick for 5p'. We invited the children and staff to bring in their spare coppers. In total we saved £80, this was then taken to India with Eric Reeve (Miss Reeve's Dad) and was used to buy bricks for this project. During his visit the copper jar was full again so a further trip to the bank will be taken place soon and we will send on more money for bricks.
